Is a medical assistance contract the same as insurance?
Not always — an assistance contract may organise care without bearing insurance risk or guaranteeing payment; check who pays, who bears risk and the policy wording.
Not always — a medical assistance contract can arrange and coordinate treatment without being an insurance policy that assumes the financial risk or guarantees payment. You should check who bears the insurance risk, who organises care and who actually pays medical bills under the document you have. The word “assistance” alone does not prove you have an insured sum; request the full terms and a written statement confirming suitability for any visa requirement.
